Every Wednesday, we invite those who would like to help take care of the chickens living in Jazdów and learn something about them. What's the plan? - You can help, watch us at work, chat, and learn something about the chickens living in our garden. - Plans will depend on needs and will vary at each meeting. We will share them in the discussion space related to the event! What can you do? - You can come and leave at any time – the event is intended for people of all ages. - You can help us with tasks necessary for the health and well-being of the chickens living in our garden. - Learn about what we do and what our plans are. - Learn about chicken life. - Learn how we do it, what standards we follow, and finally – why we do it... What are the rules? - In Osiedle Jazdów, there is a ban on car entry. We kindly ask you to arrive by bike or on foot! Cars entering and parking may be towed by the City Guard. Story Most of us associate chickens with farm animals or products on store shelves. However, chickens are also funny, sociable pets that, for several years of their lives, are capable of laying eggs. Backyard chicken farming is an ideal hobby for people with even a small garden. We want to popularize this ecological solution because it offers numerous benefits – for chickens (excellent living conditions, caring attention) and for people (learning, relaxation, and fresh eggs). Just as participants in the Urban Bees initiative led to changes in regulations regarding honeybee farming in Warsaw in 2014, we now want to work together to adapt local regulations for keeping small flocks of chickens for personal use while maintaining best practices and respect for neighbors. We want to test, showcase, and educate about these practices.
