Treasures of Lower Silesia – castles, palaces, underground sites!
On the long May weekend we invite you to a micro-trip to Lower Silesia! Over four days we will visit castles, palaces and underground sites. During this trip we will touch on the history of the Silesian Piasts and the mysteries of World War II.
REGISTRATION: ZAPISY
PROGRAM:
DAY I – 30.04.2026 (Thursday)
- Meeting: 6:00, Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw (opposite Kinoteka). Departure: 06:10. On the way there will be toilet and breakfast breaks.
- Cistercian Abbey in Lubiąż – an impressive monastic complex, one of the most beautiful baroque ensembles in Central-Eastern Europe. WWII secrets: Telefunken laboratory, searches for Third Reich treasures.
- Świdnica – Church of Peace (UNESCO) – a unique building constructed without nails. A walk around the old town and a story about the astronomer Maria Cunitz.
- Accommodation: guesthouse “Magda” in Lasocin (2- and 3-person rooms).
- Dinner.
DAY II – 1.05.2026 (Friday)
- Breakfast, transfer to Nowa Ruda.
- Nowa Ruda – a hard coal mine – the history of miners, disasters and everyday life underground.
- The Owl Mountains and the “Riese” complex – mysterious adits and the legend of hidden treasures.
- Osówka – the underground city, one of the Riese project complexes.
- Dinner.
- In the evening: “Lower Silesian treasure hunters – true stories”.
DAY III – 3.05.2026
- Breakfast, transfer to Wałbrzych.
- Totenburg – a mausoleum on Mount Niedźwiadek, shrouded in legends.
- Wałbrzych – a walk in search of “black” and “white” gold.
- Książ Castle – one of the most beautiful castles of Lower Silesia, participation in the flower festival (NOTE: each participant buys an individual ticket on their own, at these dates the castle does not sell tickets for organized groups, it is recommended to buy tickets online).
- Dinner.
- In the evening – a bonfire!
DAY IV – 3.05.2026
- Breakfast, check-out.
- Rail tunnel under Mały Wołowiec – one of the longest in Poland.
- Palace in Jedlinka (from the outside) – former seat of the Organisation Todt.
- Grodno Castle – medieval walls, terraces and wartime secrets with works by Matejko.
- Lunch break on the route (approx. 45 min).
- Return to Warsaw around 22:00.
Price: 1250 zł/person + entrance tickets to visited sites.
