We warmly invite you to an author meeting with Aleksandra Korczak about her book "Helpless and Romantic. Heroines of School Readings". The meeting will be hosted by Sonia Kisza – art historian and museum enthusiast, author of the bestselling book "Art Hysteria. The Silent Scream of Paintings" and a blog of the same name. Why are school readings mostly about girls who cry, cook, or wait to be rescued? Why do so few heroines have something to say? Why are most main characters men, while women exist in the background – as mothers, cooks, or future wives? Why are there almost no female authors in the canon, and if there are any leading heroines, they are always dressing up or dreaming of marriage?
