Presentation of selected works by the artist as part of the National Museum in Warsaw’s permanent exhibition.
Admission: with a ticket to the permanent exhibition.
This year marks the 160th anniversary of Olga Boznańska’s birth and the 85th anniversary of her death (1865–1940). Both anniversaries are commemorated with a display of nearly thirty paintings by the painter from the collection of the National Museum in Warsaw.
Olga Boznańska is considered one of the most outstanding European artists. Born in Krakow, she studied, among other places, in Munich and Paris, where she ran a studio and actively participated in exhibition life. She was known as a portraitist and a creator of still lifes; she devoted her life to studio work.
In Paris she taught at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière and for many years regularly participated in the Paris Salon of the Société nationale des beaux-arts. She was awarded, among others, the Officer’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta and the Commander's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta. Three of her paintings purchased by the French government now belong to the collections of the Musée d'Orsay in Paris.
