We are recruiting for the children's group MUZYCZKA at the Embassy of Traditional Music! MUZYCZKA is a series of meetings that introduce children to the world of rural music in a friendly and practical way. The classes focus on the musical development of children aged 5 to 10, based on play with traditional melodies and rhythms. Regular contact with music, singing, and dance gently stimulates the hearing, sense of rhythm, and musical imagination of young participants. This year's edition will focus primarily on celebration and annual songs, and the cycle will be led by Katarzyna Jackowska-Enemuo and Mateusz Kowalski. This year in MUZYCZKA, we will explore celebration – the kind that has always accompanied people, woven into the rhythm of nature and the cosmos. Changes of seasons, the cycle of light and darkness, times of abundance and times of slumber – all these were reflected in songs, melodies, and dances. They were often extraordinary, full of images and symbols: world trees, golden-feathered hens, bees, calves with golden hooves, or rich gifts for girls, boys, and entire households. During our meetings, we will learn wishing carols and ritual songs related to the annual cycle, and we will learn melodies and dances from various regions of Poland – from Roztocze, Podkarpacie, Suwalszczyzna, Mazowsze, and maybe even Wielkopolska. We want music and communal music-making to help us develop family celebrations – ones that can be taken home and shared with loved ones. In October (the first 4 meetings), the sessions will be led by Katarzyna Jackowska-Enemuo, with the main theme being celebration – woven into the rhythm of nature and the cosmos for centuries. Changes of seasons, the cycle of light and darkness, times of abundance and slumber – all these moments found their reflection in songs, melodies, and dances. Children will discover extraordinary wishing carols and ritual songs, full of colorful images: world trees, bees, golden-feathered hens, golden-hooved calves, or gifts for homes and households. The November part of the cycle will be led by Mateusz Kowalski, who will introduce children to the world of traditional melodies and rhythms through play, singing, and dance. Regular contact with music and movement will naturally develop the hearing, sense of rhythm, and musical imagination of participants. The pre-Christmas finale of the cycle will most likely be led jointly by Katarzyna and Mateusz. KATARZYNA JACKOWSKA-ENEMUO - Cultural anthropologist, musician, and storyteller.
