We invite you to family gatherings in the nature reserve as part of the Year in Morysin series! 𝗕𝗶𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲: 𝗼𝗯𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗶𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗻 During a nature walk in the Morysin reserve, we will take a closer look at birds – sky wanderers who travel hundreds or even thousands of kilometers to reach their wintering grounds. As we wander through the reserve, we will talk about bird migrations and how important a resting stop Morysin and the old Vistula riverbed – the Sobieski Canal and Wilanów Lake – are for many species. And the Vistula itself! The walk will be led by ornithologist Łukasz Poławski, who will help us spot the winged residents and guests of the reserve and tell us about their habits and journeys. We hope for interesting observations of migrating birds. In the demonstration part, participants will have the opportunity to see various bird feathers up close, learn about their structure, functions, and amazing adaptations for flight, camouflage, or water protection. Using mallards as an example, we will learn how structural color creates the illusion of color, and an owl feather will help us understand the secret of silent flight. During the walk, we will also discuss why some birds, like cormorants, have feathers that get wet, and how other species – such as swans or herons – have adapted their plumage to life in and around water. We will discover which unusual bird species visit the city’s peaceful haven – the Morysin reserve. We will bring binoculars. The walk will end with a mini picnic with hot tea, coffee, and eco-snacks. ✨ When: October 26, 2025, 11:00–15:00 📍 Meeting point: ticket office 🎟️ Tickets: free passes (available two weeks before the event) to download online and at the museum ticket office 👨👩👧👦 For whom: no age restrictions ___________________ 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗴𝗶: 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗵𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗺𝗻? Autumn in the Morysin nature reserve is a special time – golden leaves, morning mists, and soft light create an almost fairy-tale landscape, in which the ruins of the old romantic park gain even more charm. It is also a perfect time to discover a lesser-known side of the forest: the world of fungi and lichens. During a walk with mycologist Piotr Biernat and lichenologist Marta Poławska, we will immerse ourselves in the micro-world of organisms that accompany us all year round, though often go unnoticed. We will learn why it is worth going mushroom hunting not only in autumn, but in every season – to truly discover their diversity and learn proper identification. Together, we will look for both visible fruiting bodies and less obvious forms of fungi and lichens, which do not disappear from the forest in winter but surprise with their resilience and beauty. We will talk about their role in the forest, their connections with dead wood, symbioses, and survival strategies. During the walk, we will use a sonificator to listen to the "voices" of fungi and lichens. This new way of experiencing nature allows us to better feel its rhythm and hidden presence. ✨ When: November 30, 2025, 11:00–15:00 📍 Meeting point: ticket office 🎟️ Tickets: free passes (available two weeks before the event) to download online and at the museum ticket office 👨👩👧👦 For whom: no age restrictions ___________________ 𝗜𝗻 𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀: 𝗻𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗸 𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘄𝗹𝘀 In the heart of wintery Morysin, as day gives way to a long night, we will set off on a walk in search of the reserve’s fascinating residents – owls. We will listen to ornithologist Sławomir Kasjaniuk’s stories about owls as brilliant hunters: their keen hearing, silent flight, and eyes adapted for hunting in the dark. We will learn which species can be found in Morysin and how to recognize them by their calls and signs of presence. The walk will be at a calm pace, with elements of night observation, listening, and mindfulness. Walking by flashlight, we will experience the nocturnal life of the forest in its natural silence and rhythm. At the end, we will invite participants for a short ecological mini snack – a moment to talk, ask questions, and summarize the series together. ✨ When: December 13, 2025, 17:00–21:00 📍 Meeting point: ticket office 🎟️ Tickets: free passes (available two weeks before the event) to download online and at the museum ticket office 👨👩👧👦 For whom: no age restrictions ___________________ 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘀: 𝗺𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝗶𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲 The finale of the Year in Morysin series! We invite you to a family walk in the winter atmosphere, during which we will track and discover the secrets of traces left by the residents of the Morysin nature reserve. During the activities, we will learn to distinguish tracks from trails – we will find out what differentiates a single print from a repeated track made by a moving animal. Together with educator Łukasz Poławski, we will set out on paths covered with snow and mud to closely observe and interpret the traces left by mammals and birds that hide from people in winter, but still leave their mysterious signs. Morysin is home to roe deer, wild boar, foxes, pine martens, and many bird species that are active even in winter. During the walk, we will learn how to recognize the presence of these animals and how their tracks can tell us their stories – where they hunted, how they moved, and even their condition. Morysin was once part of King Jan III Sobieski’s royal game park, where fallow deer – noble deer brought in especially for hunting and maintaining royal wildlife – were bred. This historical background gives the place a unique character, combining natural richness with a fascinating story of royal traditions and reminding us of the area’s former functions, which influence its present shape and ecosystem. ✨ When: December 14, 2025, 11:00–15:00 📍 Meeting point: ticket office 🎟️ Tickets: free passes (available two weeks before the event) to download online and at the museum ticket office 👨👩👧👦 For whom: no age restrictions ___________________ Remember: there is no bad weather for discovering nature. So make sure to dress appropriately so you don’t get discouraged from exploring wild nature. The walk is part of the nature education project 𝗦𝗲𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗻!
