Johann Sebastian Bach, while serving as cantor, was obliged to prepare a new composition for every Sunday and feast day. That does not mean, however, that he never returned to works already performed. This is evidenced by the cantatas Mein Herze schwimmt im Blut BWV 199 and Ich habe genug BWV 82, preserved today in several versions. Both works will be performed during the concert in the interpretation of the outstanding soprano Olga Pasiecznik and the musicians of the Early Instruments Ensemble of the Polish Royal Opera Capella Regia Polona. Between the cantatas the famous Orchestral Suite in B minor, BWV 1067 will be performed; note the polonaise as a Polish accent in the fifth movement.
The cantata Mein Herze schwimmt im Blut BWV 199 is scored for soprano, oboe, strings and continuo. The work was composed in 1714 when Bach held the position of court organist in Weimar; the cantata is technically very demanding, and the successive recitatives and arias reveal a wide range of accompaniments.
The cantata Ich habe genug BWV 82 was composed during Bach's stay in Leipzig; it was originally written for solo bass voice (1727) and later transcribed for soprano (1730/1731). The composition expresses a longing for death understood as union with Christ.
