Body Fragments Wojciech Plewiński 📅 19.09–28.11.2025 🎉 Afternoon with Wojciech Plewiński: 19.09.2025 (Friday), 6:30 PM Exhibition opening as part of Warsaw Gallery Weekend 2025: https://warsawgalleryweekend.pl 📅 19–21.09.2025 ⏰ Opening hours during WGW: 11:00 AM–7:00 PM ⏰ Opening hours outside WGW: Wednesday–Saturday, 2:00 PM–6:00 PM The exhibition "Body Fragments" presents a special part of the work of Wojciech Plewiński, one of the most outstanding Polish photographers – his artistic explorations of the body. - Alongside iconic series like "Interpenetrations," we will showcase never-before-seen works, including those revealing the creative process. - The exhibition concept stems from the artist's discoveries in his own archive. - It is a review of works forgotten or never noticed by the photographer himself, reinterpreted years later, sometimes with attention directed in a new way. The central theme is the body, captured up close, in fragments, in motion, at rest, in diverse, even experimental compositions incorporating not only the bodies of photographed individuals but also the artist himself. Wojciech Plewiński has always sought his own visual language, regardless of the subject matter. Trained as an architect, his photography reflects a love for form, structure, and playful experimentation with them. The body, its structure, and its associated symbolism and eroticism are recurring themes throughout the artist's extraordinary life. As a photographer long associated with "Przekrój," Wojciech Plewiński created some of the most famous photographs of young women, Polish artists, and models of the 1950s and 1960s. The exhibition "Body Fragments" offers a different perspective on the photographer's creative output, focusing on his approach to the body as a subject of interest. This includes both the bodies of others and his own, carefully photographed in his annually recurring birthday self-portraits. The exhibition will also provide an opportunity for broader reflection on the iconography of the body in photography, including the socio-political context in which Plewiński worked. An important part of the presentation will be educational activities, allowing for a new interpretation of Plewiński's work and introducing the audience to the complex themes of the body in visual arts and culture.
