Rubieże is a documentary cycling performance tracing the administrative border of the city, as close as possible by bike. Each subsequent "Rubież" evolves from merely physically experiencing the distance to observing the perforated structure of the city boundary, whose openness stands in opposition to the increasingly tightly closed borders of bubbles and states. It appears as a border full of roads. The Rubież cycling act fits into the emancipatory ethos of the bicycle. It transforms the bureaucratized urban structure into a personal landscape. The bicycle, operating outside the logic of centralized transport and power, encourages grassroots observation, which is the foundation of "mapping" the borderlands. XI.
