I am opening an additional recruitment for the Belarusian song group! The group has been active for over a year – maybe we are exactly what you are looking for? 🎯 DATE: Thursdays, 17:30 – 19:30 📍 PLACE: ul. Kielecka 44 (close to Metro Pole Mokotowskie), music studio at Chocimska High School. 💸 COST: 300 PLN/month 📝 Sign up via: https://forms.gle/p2mLUNWutXhnRBgd6 FOR WHOM? I invite everyone to the workshops: - who want to better understand and develop their vocal abilities in so-called white/folk singing technique, - interested in learning the traditions of singing and characteristic elements of Belarusian vocal technique, - who want to sing in a regular group, - interested in developing skills in using music archives. ABOUT THE WORKSHOPS: During the classes, we will focus on learning ritual and lyrical songs mainly from the southern regions of Belarus – areas that are musically closest to me. We will draw from rich archival collections as well as recordings from my own field research. The classes will be supplemented with exercises in voice emission, breathing, and body awareness (including working with tensions). For years, I have been a great fan of the language and musical traditions of Belarus. I invite you to co-create a singing space together. ABOUT ME: I am a traditional singing teacher, educator, and cultural studies specialist. For over 15 years, I have been involved in traditional singing, delving into the nuances of the musical traditions of Mazovia, Ukraine, and Belarus. I am a member of the "Z Lasu" ensemble, performing songs from Ukrainian, Belarusian, and Polish Polesia. I gained my skills and experience during workshops with practitioners/teachers from the region, joint singing with village singers, and also during field research conducted in Ukraine, Russia, and Belarus. I have participated in many theater-music projects, thanks to which I developed the ability to work with voice in space and on stage. What is important to me is the community and relationship that is created through oral transmission, as well as the authenticity of folk music. What personally attracts and nourishes me in this singing are the ancient scales and musical measures. See you soon! Additional recruitment for the Belarusian song group is open!
