The black comedy by Peter Shaffer is one of the most frequently performed comedies in the world. The phenomenon of this play lies, among other things, in its reversed logic: when the lights go out on stage, the actors move freely as if their world were bright, but when the spotlights come on, all the characters "fall into darkness" and move around blindly, creating comedic situations and a series of misunderstandings. A young, promising sculptor faces a double life opportunity. On the same day, a famous millionaire, an art connoisseur interested in buying his works, and his future father-in-law, the formidable Colonel, are set to visit his apartment. He must make a stunning impression on both. To present himself in the best possible light, he borrows stylish furniture from his absent friend's apartment. And everything would probably go smoothly if... the lights didn't suddenly go out. The blackout triggers a cascade of unexpected events. In the darkness, all the expected guests, as well as a few rather unexpected ones, meet. The demanding English fiancée and her father, an unbalanced military man; the domineering mistress; the neighbor, an old maid who loves singing psalms and strong drinks; the gay neighbor, charming, flamboyant, refined, and secretly in love with the main character. Add to this an electrician who is easily mistaken for the millionaire and, finally, the millionaire, who can quite easily be taken for a power plant worker. The cast includes: - Mateusz Damięcki / Piotr Ligienza - Marta Wierzbicka / Milena Staszuk - Elżbieta Jarosik - Andżelika Piechowiak / Anna Maria Jarosik - Tomasz Sapryk / Sebastian Konrad / Władysław Grzywna - Jacek Lenartowicz / Piotr Zelt - Jacek Kopczyński - Albert Osik ⏳ Duration of the play: 130 minutes with an intermission. 📅 On November 28, we will perform "Black Comedy" for the 200th time.
