Room in Bloom vol. 9: Dorota Miśkiewicz

“Room in Bloom” returns with its ninth intimate concert at the home of Kasia Pietrzko and Maciej Kądziela. The star of the evening will be Dorota Miśkiewicz — vocalist, violinist, composer and lyricist.

Dorota Miśkiewicz — one of the most important Polish jazz voices, composer and lyricist, awarded the bronze medal “Gloria Artis For Merits to Culture”. She has released nine original albums, repeatedly nominated for the Fryderyk awards; in recent years she has been named Vocalist of the Year in the Jazz Forum magazine ranking. On 8 September 2023 her album “Bons Amigos” was released, recorded in Rio de Janeiro with Brazilian guitarist Toninho Horta — an album nominated for the 2024 Fryderyk in the Jazz Album of the Year category, and Dorota nominated in the Artist of the Year category.

Artists:

• Kasia Pietrzko — pianist, composer and arranger, leader of the Kasia Pietrzko Trio (Polish Jazz series). Music that is subtle, emotional and full of refined narrative.
• Maciej Kądziela — alto saxophonist, improviser, composer and educator; one of the most distinctive artists of the young Polish jazz scene, co-creator of international projects.
• Mateusz Szewczyk — double bassist and bass guitarist, laureate of contests including Jazz nad Odrą and Jazz Juniors; he has performed on renowned stages in Europe and Asia, and has collaborated with artists such as Leszek Możdżer and Dorota Miśkiewicz.
• Piotr Budniak — drummer, laureate of major Polish competitions, leader of Piotr Budniak Essential Group; he has collaborated with Tomasz Stańko and Ewa Bem.
