About the event

Inspired by the words of Pope Leo XIV, who during a meeting with film people in the Vatican in November 2025 called cinemas “the beating heart of communities”, we invite you to a special event in Kraków: “Light, Camera, Action: Vocation. Film Retreats at Kino Sfinks”. The Pope emphasized that film has the power to move emotions, ask important questions and build bonds. In that spirit we offer a three-day film program combining the cinema experience with spiritual reflection.

Date: 19–21 March 2026 (Lent).

Description: The program includes three films addressing ethical and existential issues, focusing on the theme of vocation — understood as the search for meaning, identity and an answer to a calling that can change life. The motif refers to the liturgical year theme “Missionary Disciples” and invites reflection on how we read our own vocation and how we live it out in everyday life.

Event program:

  • 19 March 2026 (Thursday), 17:30
“Niedziele” (2025, dir. Alauda Ruiz de Azúa, Spain, 1 h 55 min.) — film with voice-over.
Description: The story of seventeen-year-old Ainara, who discovers a religious vocation and decides to join a convent, disrupting the previous family order. The film asks whether vocation is solely a personal experience or also a challenge for loved ones.
    Tickets: Bilety

  • 20 March 2026 (Friday), 17:30
    “Testament Ann Lee” (2025, dir. Mona Fastvold, UK/USA, 2 h 17 min.)
Description: A speculative reinterpretation of the story of Ann Lee, founder of the Shaker religious community. Amanda Seyfried stars. The film reflects on radical fidelity to one’s vocation and its impact on the community.
    Tickets: Bilety

  • 21 March 2026 (Saturday), 16:00
“Corpus Christi” (2019, dir. Jan Komasa, Poland, 1 h 55 min.) — film also with audio description via the AudioMovie or Kino Dostępne 2.0 app.
Description: The story of young Daniel, who after a spiritual transformation dreams of the priesthood but cannot formally enter the seminary. Nevertheless, he dons a cassock. The film questions the authenticity of faith and its place relative to the institutional structures of the Church.
