It was in this context that Catharsis emerged, one of the new wave of bands combining metal drama with the raw ferocity of hardcore punk. They quickly stood out for their almost self-destructive intensity and uncompromising anti-capitalist ethos. By reversing Christian iconography to defend the individual's struggle against a hostile world, they took up the centuries-old banner NO GODS NO MASTERS, extending this project of total rebellion into their increasingly turbulent lives. This apocalyptic orientation, in turn, influenced their music as they sought to find the magical combination of words, harmonies, and rhythms that could ignite a global conflagration. Catharsis disbanded in 2002 after relentless touring across three continents and a final catastrophic five months in Europe. They returned in 2013 with the release of their discography “Light from a dead star” through their own Crimethinc. collective (US) and Refuse Records (EU). In October 2025, the band returns to Europe – also with new tracks recently released on their new album "Hope against hope." Catharsis does not revisit the ground they broke on their previous albums but moves forward into increasingly abrasive and dynamic territory. Politically, they remain uncompromisingly radical both in their lives and lyrics. This is not a band that has slowed down, toned down, or softened. After memorable performances at the Kotły club in 2001 and the XV anniversary of Refuse at CDQ in 2013, Catharsis will perform in Warsaw for the third time! ---------------------------------------------------- 🎵 POINT OF NO RETURN (São Paulo, Brazil / Indecision Records/Refuse Records) - BC: https://xpointofnoreturnx.bandcamp.com/ The legendary Vegan Straight Edge band from São Paulo returns to Warsaw after 23 years! Founded in 1996, the Brazilian band with three vocalists carries the banner of vegan straight edge in Latin America, addressing political issues and playing metallic hardcore. After releasing two albums and one EP and intense touring in South America and Europe in the early 2000s, the band suspended activity in 2006. In 2024, they returned to play concerts and release their new album "The Language of Refusal" 12" for Indecision Records (USA) and Refuse Records (EU). Their new tracks address some of the most pressing issues today, such as deforestation and worker exploitation in the Amazon rainforests, inequalities related to global warming, the rise of global conservative populism, and challenges for progressive political movements.
