We invite you to a unique music-educational event dedicated to the role of women in the history of flamenco singing. Our concert combined with a lecture is an ideal proposition for those who want to better understand both the structure and the rich tradition of this genre. The program is based on a harmonious combination of storytelling and music. Faustino Núñez, a renowned musicologist, will present a historical outline and analysis of selected flamenco styles, and Mónica Clavijo will present their sound live. They will focus exclusively on cante, meaning singing, which will allow participants to go beyond a superficial reception of this art and better understand its technique, expression, and emotional depth.
Faustino Núñez is a musicologist, graduate of the University of Vienna, cellist and guitarist. He is a long-time academic lecturer (including at the University of Cádiz, ESMUC in Catalonia, the Higher Conservatory in Córdoba). Former musical director of the Compañía Antonio Gades and artistic director at Deutsche Grammophon (1990s). Author of numerous scientific and educational publications on flamenco and Spanish music.
