This is a journey from the smoky clubs of Harlem and the funky basements of Brooklyn, through jazz jam sessions, to the first hip-hop block parties. It's the story of music born at night — on the streets, in small clubs and basements — funk, soul, hip-hop and jazz that still resonate in the city's groove today.
This time we meet in Kraków — at the Piękny Pies club, in the heart of Kazimierz. We will travel back through three decades: the '70s, '80s and '90s, when the groove was the language of the streets and vinyl reigned as the music medium. From the turntables will come fat breaks, soulful melodies and hip‑hop classics — recordings that shaped the city's nocturnal pulse.
“City Grooves” is more than a party — it's a moment frozen in time. A meeting with a culture where rhythm connects people and the dancefloor becomes a shared space of freedom, energy and improvisation. From the roots of funk and soul, through the birth of hip‑hop, to the jazz and electronic echoes of the '90s — from turntables, with history and the urban vibe that will sound across Kraków's Kazimierz that night.
