For centuries people have wondered what happiness really is. Can it be weighed, measured, touched? Does it have a taste, color, or scent? Do you need to travel to the ends of the earth to find it, or is it enough to reach out your hand to discover it nearby? Is it a state of mind, a fleeting moment, or maybe a conscious choice? Or perhaps… happiness is waiting for us at the theatre?
We invite you to an extraordinary puppet performance created with viewers of all ages in mind. Together we will dive into the theme of happiness, inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s timeless tale “The Galoshes of Happiness.” This story reminds us that happiness does not depend on material goods but on how we look at the world.
Together with the puppet characters we will set off in search of Aristotelian eudaimonia — a state of fullness and harmony. The performance will inspire discovering happiness in small things and will remind us that it depends on us whether the glass is half full, and what we actually pour into it.
After the performance we invite you to the art-and-theatre workshop “A Letter to the World” — creative educational activities that will allow participants to express emotions, thoughts and observations about the surrounding reality through theatrical and artistic forms. During the workshops participants will take part in theatre games that integrate the group and stimulate imagination. After a short theatrical warm-up we create a collective “letter to the world” in collage technique or individual postcards with wishes for our planet.
