laureate of the 3rd prize at the 19th Fryderyk Chopin International Piano Competition in Warsaw
Zitong WANG – laureate of the 3rd Prize at the 19th Fryderyk Chopin International Piano Competition in Warsaw and winner of the Krystian Zimerman special award for the best performance of a sonata. Wang has become one of the most intriguing artists of her generation, captivating audiences worldwide with fiery temperament and deep sensitivity revealed in each of her unforgettable interpretations. She is also a laureate of many international competitions, including the 64th Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition.
She graduated from the Curtis Institute of Music, where she studied with Meng-Chieh Liu and Eleanor Sokoloff. She is currently pursuing graduate studies at the New England Conservatory under Dang Thai Son. Fascinated by early music, Wang also studied harpsichord at the Curtis Institute of Music with Leon Schelhase and was invited by Trevor Pinnock to perform on historic harpsichords from the Flint collection.
She has performed as a soloist with orchestras such as The Philadelphia Orchestra, The Cleveland Orchestra, the National Philharmonic Orchestra in Warsaw, the Polish Baltic Philharmonic Orchestra and the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, collaborating with conductors Jahja Ling, Xian Zhang, Andrzej Boreyko and Antony Hermus.
As a chamber musician she has collaborated with artists such as David Shifrin, Roberto Díaz, Soovin Kim, Gloria Chien, Isidore Quartet, Vera Quartet and Zora Quartet, and with composers Unsuk Chin, Bright Sheng, David Ludwig and Alvin Singleton. She was a Protégé Artist at the Chamber Music Northwest festival in Portland (Oregon). Her work has been featured on Stage+, Amadeus TV, WRTI, WHYY TV and All Classical Radio.
