The lecture "A Century of the Musical" will concern the specifics of the genre — what distinguishes the musical from other forms of musical theatre, how it developed, how the themes of productions expanded, and finally what function it serves today in an era of great global popularity. A separate place will be devoted to the situation of the musical in present-day Poland and its development prospects.
Dr. Daniel Wyszogrodzki is a theatre translator specializing in musical theatre; he teaches the history of the genre at the Theatre Academy in Warsaw. He is also the author of the book "Ale musicale" and hosts music programmes on Radio 357.
The meeting is for adults. An induction loop will be available during the lecture.
