On January 15, 1869, in a tenement on Krupnicza Street, Stanisław Mateusz Ignacy Wyspiański was born. He was the son of sculptor and photographer Franciszek Wyspiański and Maria née Rogowska. A painter, draftsman, poet, playwright, set designer and stained-glass artist — a versatile creator, author of works including Wesele, Warszawianka and Akropolis. He was a professor at the Kraków Academy of Fine Arts in the decorative arts department.
