About the event

Can the canon be changed? Author's art history course by Przemysław Głowacki 📅 1st semester: October 14 – February 17 📅 2nd semester: February 24 – May 26 We invite you to unique meetings with art in the 2025/2026 school year! As part of the original series of lectures by art historian Przemysław Głowacki, we will delve into the fascinating history of painting, sculpture, and architecture—from prehistory to the present day. Our meetings will be an opportunity to hear about the most important movements and styles, famous works, and renowned artists. The lectures will allow participants not only to organize their knowledge but also to discover the broader context of the creation of works and their significance in history. We will also consider to what extent the accepted canon changes and how it has changed recently. Special attention will be given to women artists, whose work, forgotten for years, is now being rediscovered. The course will be an excellent aid for students planning to take the art history matriculation exam or preparing to apply to art schools. We also warmly invite all those interested in art and who appreciate its beauty. After participating in the series of meetings, everyone will be able to better understand works of art and notice details that usually escape us during a cursory viewing. And for museum and art gallery enthusiasts, visiting exhibitions will certainly become even more satisfying. Przemysław Głowacki's original lectures will be a great starting point for reflection on art, its transformations over the centuries, and the expansion of the existing canon. Can it be changed?
