The School of Young Critics is an innovative, open, and free educational project. Experienced, respected, and professionally active editors and journalists teach media understanding and creation. Lectures are conducted by: - Katarzyna Janowska - Joanna Dunikowska-Paź - Radek Kotarski - Radomir Wit 🎥 Magdalena Kasperowicz teaches camera work during workshops. During four full-day sessions, the instructors will discuss what working in television and audiovisual media means to them. They will address the challenges faced by video creators today, how technological, social, political, and economic changes impact their profession, and what the future of traditional media might look like. They will explore whether and how the development of Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube has changed the way people work with cameras and the quality of content presented in front of them, as well as what aspects of television craftsmanship might be useful for online creators. Discussions will cover mission, ethics, responsibility, work ethos, professional choices, as well as reach, market share, changing viewer expectations, competition, and economic realities. During workshop sessions, participants will learn the basics of video craftsmanship related to working in traditional and new media.
