Description:
We invite you to unique sculpting workshops inspired by the exhibition “City of Animals” and the artist’s creative approach. These are sessions where, following Bożekowska’s footsteps, we will look at animals in a new way, trying to become their attentive observers, noting their movement, energy and presence in space.

Domicella Bożekowska was an observant artist fascinated by the world of animals. She carefully followed their daily lives: she sketched and sculpted, creating works in which she captured the essence of animals – their nature, habits and ways of communicating with the world.

Instead of copying nature, we will try to capture its most important qualities: character, dynamics, tension. Animals will become a starting point for creating realistic, synthetic, fantastic or hybrid forms – those that best convey what moves us in a given creature.

The workshop creates a safe space for focused creativity. We work from sketches, through small sculptural studies, to the creation of the final sculpture. The most important thing is thinking about shape, proportions and the tension of the form – in the spirit of the sensitivity characteristic of Bożekowska’s art.

Instructor: Kinga Kosacz-Drozdek – sculptor and educator, graduate of the Sculpture Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk. She conducts anatomical sculpture classes in the postgraduate program Creative Industries – Ceramics. She has participated in many exhibitions and projects, including in Warsaw.
