The Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw invites you to a family workshop where art becomes an experience for all the senses. The meeting is designed with the comfort and needs of children in mind, including those with sensory hypersensitivity and those on the autism spectrum.
Our inspiration will be the exhibition “Misterioso”. We will view works by the artist Nadia Markiewicz and consider what we enjoy playing most: which games bring us joy, what makes them interesting, and which rules matter to us. Like the artist, can we design our own playing cards or even create our own game?
In the second part of the session, using a variety of materials — for example foam and fabrics — we will create our own props to use during the imagined play.
Sensory-friendly workshops take into account the needs of children with sensory hypersensitivity and those on the autism spectrum. They are run in small groups by appropriately trained staff. We also welcome siblings of children with different needs and all families who want to explore art in friendly conditions. The sessions assume active participation of caregivers; paired tasks strengthen the bond between parent and child.
