I invite you to a subjective tale about Guatemala — a country of colors, fire, faith and extraordinary traditions. I went there for a year. I stayed for eleven years. It’s a story about people, friendship and love, about flavors, volcanoes and time that flows differently. I will talk about the one-of-a-kind Semana Santa (Holy Week) — a celebration that moves entire towns. If time allows, there will also be talk of the god Maximón and other unusual rituals (El Día del Diablo, the kite festival on the Day of the Dead), in which the sacred intertwines with everyday life. It is also a story about courage — to drop everything and follow the voice of the heart.
