About the event

Geo-economics and Economic Power as a Tool of Foreign Policy - Academic Conference

The Political Science Student Association operating at the Institute of Journalism and International Relations of UKEN is honored to invite all interested parties to the nationwide academic conference titled “Geo-economics and Economic Power as a Tool of Foreign Policy.”

In contemporary international relations we observe a clear shift of emphasis from classical military instruments to tools of an economic nature. Economic sanctions, trade policy, strategic investments, control over natural resources, and access to financial markets are becoming key mechanisms for realizing states’ interests and building their positions in the international system.

The aim of the conference is to analyze the significance of geo-economics as one of the main dimensions of contemporary foreign policy.

📅 The conference will take place on April 23–24, 2026.
📍 Location: Commission of National Education University in Kraków (ul. Podchorążych 2)

Program:

  • First day: it will start at 9:00 and will consist of four thematic panels.
  • Second day: workshop format, combined with a program of sightseeing in Kraków; an opportunity for in-depth discussion in a less formal setting and participant integration.

Participation in the conference is free, and the event will be held in person.
