Free admission ABOUT THE BOOK Katarzyna Boni, "Którędy do wyjścia?" Agora Publishing House The new book by Katarzyna Boni, author of "Ganbare! Workshops on Dying." A personal story about living in the shadow of the climate catastrophe, a changing world, loss, and new beginnings. - Butterflies and hippos. - A toucan's beak four times larger than its head. - Winter, the taste of vanilla and olive oil. - Daily morning coffee. - Birches. At least in our geographical region. - And also pines, spruces, and larches. All this and much, much more will be lost along with the world that is disappearing. Burning in forest fires, melting with glaciers, suffocating under a layer of carbon dioxide that is impossible to keep track of anymore. So why don't we feel fear? Why don't emotions keep up with the sensations of an overheated body? What is that German word for the mismatch of feelings to reality? And where is the way out of this catastrophe? Katarzyna Boni has created a moving story about being lost in the future that has arrived. And about the personal dimension of the planetary crisis. But this is not another book about global warming. It is a record of a private journey that leads from a sense of helplessness in the face of loss to new beginnings. Mourning the natural world intertwines with mourning loved ones who are passing away, and the prospect of becoming a mother is intertwined with fear for the world in which future generations will live. From this intimate narrative emerges a universal image of our shared fears, uncertainties, and hopes. Katarzyna Boni – writer and reporter. Author of non-fiction books, including Ganbare! Workshops on Dying and Auroville. City of Dreams, essays and stories, as well as a children's book about the ocean and its creatures, Octopus Zośka. She writes about trauma, mourning, and hope. She describes the fate of war refugees, people affected by trauma after natural disasters, and those who find themselves at the very center of the climate crisis. For several years, she has been writing about climate change and how it introduces us to a new reality. She explores how we can cope with the anxiety caused by the climate crisis and how we can find ways to live in this new world. In her latest work, she makes room for non-human beings and their perspectives. She believes that moving away from anthropocentrism can help us face the Anthropocene era. She is the author of three non-fiction books for adults, a children's book about the ocean and its creatures, many essays, and several stories. Her work has been recognized with several Polish awards and nominations as well as international ones, including the European Press Prize 2025 for the text "Mothers at the End of the World."
