📍 Museum of Polish History | Warsaw Citadel | ul. Gwardii 1 | Temporary Exhibition Hall [level 0] 📅 August 21 – November 23, 2025 A new temporary exhibition at the Museum of Polish History showcases the moment when the era of the noble Republic ended and a modern community of citizens was born. The Kościuszko Uprising – the 1794 insurrection – serves as the starting point for a story about the fight for freedom, about an idea that transformed Poles into a civic nation capable of acting in solidarity beyond social divisions. The exhibition's narrative spans from the posthumous cult of Tadeusz Kościuszko, through a realistic depiction of his youth in Polesie, to key moments of his life and activities – the Cadet School, participation in the American War of Independence, the Constitution of May 3, the war with Russia, and finally the dramatic finale of the Uprising. In the exhibition spaces, visitors: - learn about the preparations and course of the uprising, - enter the world of conspiracy, battles for Warsaw and Vilnius, - see original military artifacts and drawings by Piotr Norblin and Aleksander Orłowski, - view interactive battle models and reenactments, - confront questions about memory, sacrifice, and the meaning of struggle, which accompanied Poles until the 20th century – from uprisings under partitions to the times of the Polish People's Republic. In the exhibition spaces, you will also hear specially prepared phonograms produced by the Fryderyk Chopin National Institute – the sound layer enhances the emotional dimension of the exhibition. The exhibition is accompanied by a rich program of cultural and educational events – designed for history enthusiasts, those seeking their roots, and anyone who wants to better understand the past and its impact on the present. The program includes, among others, a theatrical performance "Kościuszko in Martinique" and the publication of the exhibition catalog (in Polish and English), developed by outstanding researchers of the Kościuszko era. Curators: Michał Bąk, Richard Butterwick-Pawlikowski Conservation supervision: Ewa Proniewicka Coordination: Aniela Mikuła, Iwona Jesionowska, Aleksandra Nasiorowska Exhibition design and execution: New Amsterdam Phonograms: Fryderyk Chopin National Institute Honorary patronage: Minister of Culture and National Heritage The exhibition was co-financed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage as part of the task titled "Funding for the organization of temporary exhibitions planned for implementation in 2023–2024 in connection with the opening of the Museum of Polish History building at the Citadel site." 🎟️ Tickets: - Regular: 20 PLN - Reduced: 10 PLN - Family: 30 PLN (for 1 or 2 adults + children, max. 6 people) - Group (min. 10 people): 15 PLN/person Available at the museum ticket office or online: https://tiny.pl/zq1jwk4j Free admission every Friday (10:00 AM – 6:00 PM) | Last entry at 5:00 PM 📞 Reservations: 22 255 76 27 | [email protected] More information about the exhibition: https://muzhp.pl/rzeczpospolita-powstancza-insurekcja Discover the story of freedom, community, and courage – a tradition that shaped generations of Poles.
